We have been sent a couple of activities that are going on in our area this half term.
Please see the images below.
Children will finish school at our usual time; 3.10pm on Friday 20th December.
We would like to wish all our pupils and families a very Merry Christmas and thank you all for your support this Autumn Term, we hope you enjoy the festive period and get to spend time with friends and families.
We look forward to welcoming all our pupils back to school on Tuesday 7th January 2020 for our Spring Term.
Unfortunately due to events beyond our control the school flu immunisation for next week has been postposed. We don't currently have a new date, however, when we are given one we will communicate this to parents via our app and newsletter.
The information below has been sent to us by the NHS and Cwm Taf Health Board to explain the reason for the postponement and a PDF which may answer some questions you may have.
We are holding our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning tomorrow morning at 9.15am in our school hall. It would be lovely to see parents grandparents, neighbours and anyone else who would like to join us for a cuppa and a slice of cake.
Children will be give the chance to buy a treat at break time, we ask that they are sent to school with £1 to cover the cost of a drink and treat.
All money raised will be given to Cancer Research for Wales, a charity which is close to the hearts of many of our staff and families in Oaklands. Please come along and support us or send in donations of cakes first thing tomorrow.
Thank you
We have had a fantastic year this year at Oaklands Primary, thank you to our parents and staff for all of their support this year.
School Uniform Exchange and Recycling
We are supporting the Uniform Exchange which aims to encourage the people of RCT to recycle and donate uniform rather than throwing away, allowing other families living in the area to benefit from their generosity. You can donate any school uniform items from RCT primary or secondary schools in good condition, with no holes, tears, stains or embroidered names. Please give them a wash first and remove any name tags if possible so we can distribute them immediately. Donations can be made to:
St Fagans Community Hall,
Windsor St, Trecynon,
Aberdare,
CF44 8LL
Open 10am -12noon weekdays or 9-11am Sunday mornings
If you are in need of school uniform for September you can visit the Citizens Advice centre in Mountain Ash, there is no qualification process, it’s simply on a first come first served basis. The centre is open:
Monday, 9.30 – 12.30
Tuesday, 10.00 – 15.30
Wednesday, 13.00 – 16.00
Friday, 9.30 – 12.30.
Alternatively if you have uniform which may be past its best please do not throw it out as we are taking part in the RCT Uniform Recycling Challenge in school in September so please bring any uniform in on the first day back.
