                 Welcome to Dosbarth Bedwen

Hi everyone. Welcome back to the final half term of the year. I hope everyone had a lovely break and enjoyed the beautiful weather. I hope everyone remains safe, well and happy.

Well done for all your hard work last term, especially practising your RWI sounds. I am aware some of you are ready

to move on and some of you need to recap on previous sounds. I will continue to add new sounds this week but please go at your own pace and if you are unsure please email me at

It is lovely to see that some of you have sent photos to Miss Phillips, the foundation phase gallery is looking great! Don't forget if you have photos of your work send them to Miss Phillips using her email address

Also look out on our class page for some fun activities Miss Philips will be planning on a Thursday and Friday under Topic.

This Wednesday KS2 are will be holding a sports festival with a difference!  With us all being at home and away from school at the moment, it has been more difficult than usual to get active.  The "Joy of Moving Festival" is aimed at getting us all active and having fun along the way. We would like the foundation phase to join in and get active on Wednesday also, and take some photos/videos that you can send to Miss Phillips to go in our gallery.

While you are staying at home we would like you to continue practising and learning Welsh words, sentences and phrases. Below are some fun challenges you can try at home. Send any pictures to myself and Miss Phillips and we can forward them to Mr Dainham.

There is also a link on Dosbarth Collen's page with the 30 fun challenges.

Hi everyone. During our RWI sessions in Reception we have been practising the initial letter sounds. We want the children to read these fluently and effortlessly. They are taught in the following order.

m a s d t I n p g o c k u b f e l h sh r j v y w th z ch qu x ng nk

If you are currently reading from a word time sheet look at group 1.

If you are currently reading from a ditty sheet look at group 2.

If you are currently on your first book look at group 3.

I will be setting you new sounds and words to blend weekly.

Please check below each day for your RWI and daily homework tasks. Enjoy and remember you can contact me on if you have any questions.

Fun whilst learning at Home.

Hi Dosbarth Bedwen. I hope you all had a lovely Easter and I hope your all keeping safe. I will be updating this page every Monday with suggestions of activities you can do at home. The activities will be mostly practical and be related to our topic this term which is, 'All creatures great and small'. Please continue reading, practising letter formation and numbers to 20 and but also remember the most important thing is to stay safe and happy.

  • Go on a bug/minibeast hunt when out on your daily walk, draw all the different bugs you find.
  • Pick your favourite bug and make a collage using materials you have at home or natural resources from the outdoors.
  • Pick a story book which has a bug or minibeast and read with your mam and dad. Try and re-tell the story to your family.

I hope you enjoy these activities and if you have any questions you can email me on

Finally, if you would like to continue to practise your read, write, inc. There are lots of fun videos for you to take part in while learning your sounds and words.

I look forward to hearing from you all soon

The children have been given usernames and passwords for their account on the active learn website. It is a great resource that helps them to revise and practice their maths skills that have been taught in class.

The aim is that they play different Maths games and earn themselves rewards. The games will be differentiated and set at your child's level. Could you please encourage your child to play these games on a regular basis.

All children have been given passwords and usernames for this website. It allows all children to access a variety of fiction and non-fiction books to read.

If you'd like to access links to enhance your child's learning at home you can use free Twinkl resources that are available to all parents. You simply have to create an account and use the code which is CVDTWINKLHELPS.

All children have also been provided with their HWB password and username which they can log onto to access a whole variety of work eg J2E, Microsoft word, powerpoint, EXCEL etc.

Don't forget you can access a wealth of resources on BBC Bitesize KS2, BBC Primary, Topmarks, Brain Pop etc There are lots of very good websites available.
